RED SEA LIVEABOARDS SEARCH

Search here through the most comprehensive list of Red Sea Liveaboards, updated daily, at the very best prices. Planet are the UK's Red Sea Liveaboard specialist so please call for expert impartial advice on the most suitable boat and itinerary for you. For groups of 6 or more we can often charter a new sailing or for larger groups we can arrange for a proivate charter with free places and excellent discounts.

THE DESTINATION

The Egyptian Red Sea cannot be beaten for value for money - within a five hour flight you have access to some of the best diving in the world with a selection of excellent Red Sea Liveaboards. For the more experienced divers (with 40 logged dives) the liveaboard holiday will give you access to the very best dive sites. These trips are also great value as they are fully inclusive of all diving and full board. They are also great for single travellers as there is no single supplement as with the hotels. We try to inspect all the boats as regularly as possible and have continuous feedback from our client so we would encourage you to call and chat through the many different boats so we can give a personal recommendation for your dive level, expectations and budget.

We specialise in Egypt, not just in the liveaboards but we also have extensive knowledge of the interior of the country. Many of us have lived and worked in the area for many years so please do call for some first hand advice and recommendations. But liveaboards are not for everyone. For those of you new to diving, recently qualified or with non-diving friends, family or partners, we recommend a hotel based holiday. Depending on the type of resorts (quiet and secluded, busy and sociable, wreck diving or reefs etc.) and your budget we can recommend the most suitable option. When it comes to hotel choices in Egypt it is worth noting that for a relatively small amount of money you can get a big jump in standard, the 5 star hotel often offers the best value!

red sea liveaboards

We pride ourselves on having the most comprehensive collection of luxury vessels of any dive travel specialist. We also offer ' half week' liveaboards (3 days on the boat and 4 days hotel based diving) - ideal for beginners or those unsure of a full week's intensive diving!

The liveaboard itineraries are broadly split into two areas; Northern Wreck and Reefs and the Southern Marine Parks and offshore islands. The northern area offers a greater variety with approx 40% wreck in the standard itinerary. There is also shorter distance between dive sites enabling a 'looser schedule' and the possibility of more dives in the week. The south however will take you to far more remote and uncrowded sites with a much greater chance of seeing larger pelagic life including many sharks. This area is for the more advanced divers only. If you are any way unsure of your suitability for a liveaboard itinerary please just call us for advice.

THE boats

The standards of Red Sea Liveaboards is currently very high for the UK market with a choice of around 20 boats, all with excellent service and facilities; though some are better than others! We have made a point of inspecting as many of the boats as possible, and as often as possible, so please do not hesitate to contact us for a first hand opinion of any trip.

THE CLIMATE

During the winter months of November to March the Red Sea coastal resorts of Egypt offer a very comfortable 22 - 28 c, perfect for a bit of winter sun. As you head into the summer months the temperature rises steeply peaking to around 40c in August (especially in the south)! However, the high temperatures are made more comfortable with very low humidity and a constant sea breeze. Please note that the sea can be rougher during the winter months which is a bigger consideration for the southern dive sites as there is often an 8/9 hour journey between some dive sites.

During the winter months we would recommend between 7 and 5 mm wetsuit but then only a 3mm shortie for the mid summer months. Please note that on some of the deeper dive sites you can encounter colder under currents.

Egypt can be visited year around with equally good diving.

THE DIVING

A Red Sea Liveaboard will undoubtedly get you to the best dive sites but due to the more advanced nature of the diving we recommend that divers have at least 40 logged dive and / or there PADI Advanced Open Water qualification. On some of the easier north itineraries, where there is an on board instructor, we can offer AWO course for the less qualified but this must be approved first by us.

The diving from the liveaboard is world class! In the Northern region of the Gulf Of Suez there is a host of WWII wrecks amongst others. With the modern and powerful top end Red Sea boats now available the more remote Southern off shore islands and reef can easily be accesses on a weeks trip. These deep waters surrounding the submerged mountain ranges of the Southern Egyptian Red Sea are home to the large pelagic; Hammerheads, Reef Shark and Oceanic Whitetips to name a few. The corals here are also stunning with the deep water currents providing a never ending convey belt of nutrients.

THE OTHER ACTIVITIES

The last night and day of the trip can be spent ashore for a meal or a few drinks.

Your trip can also be tailored to either include a few days or extra week at a beach resort or we can construct an itinerary to take in some of the historical sites for which Egypt is so famous. We have extensive knowledge of the interiors of the fascinating country and use only the very best hotels and tours personally checked by our staff.

THE NIGHTLIFE

Not much ! Eat, sleep, dive…….
