THE DIVING IN Marsa Alam

There are three bases from which to dive: the hotel by truck or straight off the beach front; from Marsa Shagra, a reef clad bay next door to the hotel (boat diving to Elphinstone and Dolphin House from here) and Wadi Lahami (an hours drive south) where you can dive Fury Shoals at St Johns reef - this is the best!

Pioneer Divers is managed and operated by Red Sea Diving Safari which has been running for over ten years along the southern Red Sea coast. Hossam Helmy, the owner, has dedicated himself and his team to discovering this coastline and they have conducted the most extensive survey of the fringing reef.

The diving here is most suited to the slightly more experienced divers as you will need at least 50 logged dives to get out to the best dive site at the off shore reef of Elphinstone and Dolphin House. However there are still plenty of excellent spots for snorkellers and beginner divers along the miles of fringing reef that dominate this coast line.
