Diani Beach After extensive investigation into all the resorts along this coast line Planet have chosen to offer Diani Beach as our preferred holiday destination in East Africa. Here you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, away from the main tourist areas found in Mombasa North Coast. Here at Planet we endeavour to provide impartial advice on all our destinations and enjoy constructing tailor-made itineraries to suit your exact requirements. This is especially important in Kenya as there is such a wide choice of activities both above and below the water.
The general standard of accommodation is reasonable and excellent value for money. The hotels that we have chosen to offer are only in the higher end of the market as this is where the best value and service is to be found.
Kenya experiences ideal holiday weather for most of the year, with the exception of April, May and June which are seasonally subject to the long rains. Short rains can occur in November, but do not last long.
The heat of summer is seasonally often cooled by windy conditions, resulting in pleasant sea breezes, particularly on the north and east coasts. Being near to the equator, the islands are warm all year round, but officially summer and winter peak in December and June respectively.
Best times to visit are July through October; December through March. The best months to see manta rays are from December to February.
The water temperature is generally around 27oC and is constant to depths exceeding sport-diving limits. A 3mm wetsuit should be sufficient. While most diving is from boats, there are also some exciting shore dives
We highly recommend adding a safari extension to your holiday as East Africa is home to some of the world's most prolific wildlife. For the more adventurous there is also the opportunity to climb the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro!
Nightlife varies greatly depending on your chosen resort but there is some excellent nightlife available in the resorts of Diani and Mombasa should you wish.

Certificates of inoculation against yellow fever and cholera are required only from visitors arriving from countries where these diseases are endemic. Malaria is a common illness in Kenya and as a precaution anti-malarial prophylactics should be taken. Mosquito nets are provided in almost all hotel rooms. For headaches, colds and similar body ailments medication can be bought from anywhere within the country. When travelling to remote areas medication must be carried. To prevent a sunstroke spoiling a trekking expedition or beach fun have a sunscreen lotion and protective headgear handy. Protective clothing and footwear is also important.
