This remote spot has reefs that are amongst the most pristine in the area as a result of the very strict marine park rules enforced by Subex Dive Center. This resort is also ideal for snorkellers with some excellent reefs accessible directly from the shore. You’ll be as astounded by the wide variety of reef and soft corals you see here as by the fish slowly drifting by, from smaller rarerities like the sea moth and ghost pipe fish to majestic eagle rays and barracudas. Jeep safaris take you to exciting access points, usually via a broad reef plateau, where you can enter the pristine underwater world along the fringe reefs with their rich covering of aquatic flora.
Subex dive centre is based on the beach of the 5* Mövenpick Hotel in El Quseir and has an outstanding record for marine conservation and quality of service - as with all things Swiss, everything about the centre runs like clockwork. The Hotel's own bay is a small nature reserve protected by various ecological measures implemented by Mövenpick and SUBEX; it boasts a unique wealth of corals and fish life for you to enjoy in your dives off the bay's own reef. IMPORTANT NOTE: To prevent “overdiving” at the local reef, i.e. to ensure that the underwater world is not overwhelmed by human visitors and that it remains fully intact for future generations, diving operations are divided into time units. No more than 20 divers are in the water during any given time unit. For this reason we highly recommend PRE BOOKING THE DIVING. If the units are all booked up, guests have the option of taking jeep or boat safaris.
You can access the local reef from right in front of the diving center. A 250’ (75 m) long jetty takes you to the diving platform where you are just a jump away from a teaming paradise of coral and underwater fauna. The ever friendly and helpful Egyptian crew will be waiting for you there with your compressed air or Nitrox tanks. There is no need to lug any heavy equipment yourself. And, if you get an urge to go beyond the intact reef area in the bay and explore the outer areas of the reef, you can do so with a Zodiac service. Besides diving off the local reef, we also offer half-day jeep or boat safaris as an welcome change of scenery. A short journey by road or boat takes you to interesting diving locations along the northern and southern coast of El Quseir.
